The Pakistan Civil Awards were established on March 19, 1957. The announcement of civil awards is generally made on Independence Day, August 14th, and their investiture takes place on the following Pakistan Day, March 23 each year by the president of Pakistan.

Presidential Award “Pride of Performance” is a civil award given by the Government of Pakistan to Pakistani civilian citizens in recognition of distinguished merit in the fields of literature, arts, sports, science, medicine & nursing and to the foreign nationals for their services to Pakistan.

The announcement of civil awards, including Pride of Performance, is generally made once a year on Independence Day (14 August), and the investiture ceremony takes place on the following Pakistan Day (23 March) by the President of Pakistan.

The Pride of Performance award is regarded as one of the highest honours in Pakistan.
